SREB is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization based in Atlanta. We are an organization of professionals committed to our mission: helping states and educators improve the social and economic vitality of the SREB region. SREB works with states to improve education at every level, from pre-K through Ph.D. Our vision is that all students in the SREB region will have high-quality educational opportunities that build on the rich diversity of the region and lead to productive, meaningful lives and robust economies.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Coach to support our Career and Technical Education (CTE) centers. This is a hands-on coaching role focused on improving instructional quality in CTE labs and classrooms — particularly in Agriculture, Trade & Industry, Family & Consumer Sciences, Engineering and Health Science pathways. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of CTE lab management, evidence-based pedagogy, and the ability to mentor and inspire CTE instructors across our partner sites.

What You'll Do
  • Coach and mentor CTE instructors, providing structured, research-based feedback on classroom and lab instruction using SREB frameworks and pedagogically grounded practices.
  • Conduct formal and informal classroom observations in lab settings; use evidence to guide instructional improvement conversations with teachers and administrators.
  • Design, facilitate, and evaluate professional development tailored to CTE educators, emphasizing best practices in lab safety, student engagement, and skill-based learning.
  • Support instructors in structuring CTE lab environments that promote student accountability, safety, and hands-on learning.
  • Analyze teacher effectiveness data and student performance trends to develop targeted professional development recommendations.
  • Partner with site administrators to communicate teacher progress toward instructional goals and support school improvement planning.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team committed to equity and excellence across Career and Technical Education pathways.

Who We're Looking For
You're an ideal fit if you have:
  • Hands-on experience teaching in a CTE lab setting — Agriculture, Trade & Industry, or Health Science preferred.
  • A strong command of instructional best practices and the pedagogical theory to coach other teachers effectively (e.g., Bloom's Taxonomy, gradual release, formative assessment, standards alignment).
  • The ability to build structure and routines in lab environments that keep students focused, safe, and productive.
  • A collaborative, growth-oriented coaching style and the skill to build trust with educators at all experience levels.
  • Comfort with data analysis to drive instructional decisions.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Leadership, a CTE content area, or a related field — OR equivalent education and experience.
  • Active or previously held teaching certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years of classroom or lab teaching experience in a CTE pathway.
  • Must reside near a major airport (50 miles or 60 minutes).
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
  • Residence in SREB state (Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or West Virginia)
  • Five (5) years classroom or lab teaching experience in a CTE pathway, or experience as a CTE Director or CTE department lead.
  • Demonstrated experience providing instructional coaching, professional development, or teacher mentorship.
  • Familiarity with SREB, Perkins V, or other CTE frameworks and quality standards.
Compensation
Starting salary: $86,000
